Brigitte Bardot Inspired makeup

Today I uploaded a Brigitte Bardot inspired makeup look for Youtube!

After looking through my makeup images I posted on here yesterday I felt inspired to re-do a sultry smoky eye makeup look but with a fresh lip and cheek for an updated twist.

I used cool toned eye shadows in midnight blue with MAC's satin taupe to create a different feel rather than the usual grey or black.

Products used were-

Chanel vitalumiere Aqua shade beige pastel

Laura Mercier secret camourflage in SC3

MAC studio finish concealer in NC20

UD PP

MAC omega for brows

MAC satin taupe e/s

Beeluscious shadow in moody blue

Clinique black gel limer

Loreal Voluminous carbon back mascara

Avon supershock gel liner

Lashes from ebay store

MAC warm soul mineralised blush

Laura mercier bellini gloss

Sorry the pictures aren't very clear! Had to rush off to do the nursery run!

MOTN, last fridays night out makeup

Hi there!! :)

I went out for a quiet drink with some friends last Friday and wanted to try a slightly different brights look than my usual tangerine! (on the lips!)

I wanted to create quite a classic pin up eye with a punchy pink lip and cheek!

Of course I used my new Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (for purposes of blogging now known as CVA, hurts my fingers typing it so much haha) On the eyes I used -
MAC e/s in vanilla on the lid and blended out up to the brow bone
MAC wedge in the crease with a crease brush, blending out into the vanilla and added more vanilla under the brow to define.
MAC omega and mystery in my brows
MAC wedge under the bottom lashes
Clinique gel liner in black
Eyelure natural lashes (new ones, sorry can't remember the no but you should check out their new ones)
MAC CCB in pearl on the cheekbones to highlight
Chanel soilel du tan in hollows of cheeks and blended up into the CCB
Illamasqua blush and lipstick from the sirens palette! (I'm not sure if they're in the permanent collection but would definitely recommend you check out illamasqua if you have not already!

I swapped around the lipstick for the evening with MAC's girl about town to match my Bright fuchsia nails, a look I will try again soon!

Be back soon!

Pretty things! MAC champale and some favourites

OOh I really fell for the 'Cham pale' range at MAC! I kinda went along to replenish a few of my favourite what I class as 'bridal products'. Those being the 'Prep and prime skin' which I just love to give my brides a smooth and illuminated surface to apply makeup onto and also some 'Fix+ fluid. If you have not come across this product before, let me tell you, It has a multitude of purposes, basically, it can be spritzed onto the skin after makeup application to 'fix/set' it and also help to adhere and blend your makeup into your skin, it can also be used to spritz on the face before foundation is applied for an easier application. I also love to use it to make my pigment eye shadows stick! I'm sure there will be more purposes, but for now, I love it, my brides do too as it makes sure their makeup stays in place all day and also gives them a little cooling down before they leave for their big day!

I wasn't actually looking for anything else, but have seen loads of people excited about this range on twitter and youtube so thought I'd have a look. It's quite difficult to tell what the swatches are like on the web site but once I had swatched these, I LOVED them!

Chilled on ice reminds me of snow white, very pretty ethereal kind of colour, but with a beautiful shimmer to it!
Have been using it just on my lids with some gel liner, it really catches the light and looks so pretty!
The other one I chose was Let me pop, thought it would be a great one for blue/green eyes to do as it says!
It's a very subtle colour but also very beautiful and pretty for winter! Can imagine it will look beautiful on tanned skin too!

The Fix+ I'd bought was from the cham pale range too, it's very similar but contains lavender rather than it's usual rose!
Did you get anything from any of the new MAC collections?

Products I would like in 2011

In my dairy I have what seems like a never ending wish list of products..but to be honest, I don't mind! I guess I could get excited about clothes, or a new album, or shoes, or bags.....but nothing really works for me as well as some new beauty products!

So, i thought I'd share with you a few things which are on my current wish list..

Hope you like them!

Chanel's new 'cult' nail polish in Black pearl out 28th jan! Actually like all three of them, I heard they are inspired by chanel pearls..ooh lovely!

OCC lip tars!! They have some wonderfully bright colours, fab for a new season of bright punchy lips! You can get them from http://themakeupartistboutique.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=19_20
MAC pro long wear foundation, possibly for my kit but think they will be very useful for my clients with more oily skin and provide great long lasting coverage!
For me....I've had this before and loved it, just not something I re purchased as I don't find it photographs very well, still looks fab on it's own as a powder foundation or to set your own foundation! Leaves a velvet finish on the skin!
 OCC again..love these colours..!
Clarins instant light natural lip perfecter...mmm two very pretty shades! although I love all the bright lips coming up, my poor lips are still very much suffering from all the cold weather we've been having here and the virus I've had has just about finished them off..so,,,some TLC from these lovely lip friends may be needed!

Elf cream eye liners in metalic Olive, gun metal and black! Have been using clinique gel liner and Bobbi Brown in 2010, but have seen some great reviews of these and at £3-50 a go, I think I'll give them a try!
I think I may have to do another of these soon...I seem to have missed some off! oops..Is there anything on your wish list for 2011?

See you soon!

My first ever Topshop makeup haul!

Well, I didn't actually buy loads but after my birthday in November I was looking for some makeup with a Christmassy feeling and first of all fell in love with this nail polish!
Having never tried topshop makeup I thought it was time I gave it a try, I'd heard that some of the cream blushers were quite nice but kinda went with a feeling in my mind and these are what I came away with!

This polish is lovely! called gypsy night which retails at £5 in the UK. Not quite black, more black with an unusual antiquey feel to it, with bronze, green and red glitter particles in..although this is the cool bit, they aren't just like big bits of chunky glitter, a bit more like gold leaf so each particle is quite random..I LIKE!!
A few other things I picked up were a gel/cream eyeliner in etch, a highlighter in colour sunbeam and a plum with glitter lip gloss!

failed attempt at showing you the mavellous glitter! :(

Here I used the highlighter in sunbeam £9 and the gloss on top of a MAC lipstick in cunning.
Do I like the products? Here's my honest opinion, I love the gold highlighter and the nail polish, the highlighter created a great colour and can also be used as an eyeshadow as it is highly pigmented. The polish went on well and lasted around 3 days without chipping and with a base and topcoat, in comparison to some of my Chanel and Essie polishes, I would say it fared just as well!

The gloss is a lovely colour but perhaps not as pigmented as I'd have liked, great applied over a lipstick though.

The only item which I would say I wasn't too keen on was the gel/solid eyeliner which retails at £8-00..to be honest I was a little disappointed, it was a little dry and difficult to work onto a brush and was quite sticky to apply, and worst the end result smudged and ended up all over my lid and under eye area which is never good!

All in all I would certainly like to try out a few more topshop products but wouldn't say they were the best value for money along with the likes of sleek and mememe!

Perhaps the spring collection will have some gems for me?? Have you tried any topshop makeup?

Favourite products of 2010

Favourite Products of the year 2010!

Well, 2010 is nearly over and what a year it has been! It started off with a cold..and looks like it is ending with another! ah well..we still have wonderful makeup and beauty products to keep us cheerful! :)

For me, 2010 has been a huge roller coaster which started in Feb when I attended the fashionface.tv course with the lovely Sam and Nicky Chapman, it was an adventure in itself leaving my husband and children at home for the week and setting off on a trip which I knew would change things forever! I met some wonderful ladies who I'm still very lucky to keep in touch with and who inspire me everyday!

I am now lucky enough to have a career in a something which I love and do you know what, as much as it is frivolous, girly and at times a little self indulgent, being a makeup Artist and a mummy makes me feel alive and I love helping other people to find their confidence and enjoy how they look!

So thanks to you all for a wonderful makeup and beauty year, here are my favourite products of 2010!

Let's start with the amazing Embryolisse moisturiser.its creamy without being greasy, protective and suitable for most skin types..A must for my kit and for me when my skin needs some TLC!

UNE 100% mineral foundation, not something I had tried until I stumbled upon http://makeupbykaty.blogspot.com/ but for those who don't like a full coverage of foundation but like to have clear looking skin, this is just gorgeous! Velvety on the skin and is build able!

MAC cream colour base in pearl.....just the perfect highlighter! it's not too silvery, or peachy just creates a beautiful glow for summer of winter skin!

Laura Mercier products, I cannot speak more highly of her luminous silk creme foundation, it covers well, but is still light enough and luminous so feels like applying anew layer of clean fresh skin! Fab for older skin types who need a little bit more evening out of skin tone but without the heavy coverage look. Sets well on it:s own and is long lasting! I need more of these in my kit in 2011! Other two favourites from Laura are the translucent powder which provides a beautiful velvet finish and is so fine, and the iconic secret camouflage concealer! It would be hard to be disappointed with any of these products!

Eyeliners have been huge for me this year, along with false eyelashes, I've found I can create so many looks and change and enhance the eye! Top of the list this year will be clinique gel liner closely followed my Avon supershock eyeliner which is the blackest, smoothest pencil I've ever tried! A new addition is the elf dual ended mascara, waterproof and everyday in one handy wand!

For the lips, favourite lip pencil of the year Laura mercier in babylips, and favourite lipstick Estee Lauder Crystal baby.. both just lovely!

My babies! Well, not my actual ones but these are my very favourite two products! Beelicious garden girl palette purchased from the wonderful website cocobeau
and my MAC pro neautrals palette!

Hair care..Schwarzkopf silver shampoo, great for cool blonde's AND cool brunettes! Keeps my lovely goldwell smoky brown and minky colours looking fab! Also Goldwell sun reflects treatment conditioner. I use this every second wash and it keeps my hair healthy and shiny!

oh how i love this makeup bag! I have two favourite makeup bags,  one which is by benefit which i think is called the 'betty' bag but strangely I call this one my Betty bag as it reminds me of the makeup artist Lisa Eldridge's gorgeous cat called .....Betty! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ujl-eZUg9Ck
and as I have two British short haired cats, this is just the best!

BarryM cream foundation in white is my go to product which lightens any of my favourite foundation shades if I find they're a little too dark or warm in tone! It may not be brilliant on it's own but the white one has served me very well this year!
MAC studio fix fluid..I know it's not every one's cup of...well foundation but on the worst blemish ridden days, or if oil is taking over..this one does the job! Spritz with a little MAC fix + first and you're away! Covers blemishes, keeps oil at bay, photographs very well, (possibly looks better with a glowy blush on the cheek such as benefit coralista or a Bobbi Brown Shimmer brick) but it is for me, a bit of a life saver at times!

Okay, this must be the updated version of my hair tongs found on http://www.hairsupermarket.com/p/54 but these have been amazing and I love the way they make my hair look every time I use them!
Thanks for reading and I hope everyone has a fabulous new year! 2011 will be my year for youtube and blogging so keep a look out!

See you soon!

Make-up look of the month..Oct 2010

Hi there!!

I need to apologise again for my lack of posts...it's not that I've not been thinking about what I want to post about..it's just been getting the time. In between looking after mash and bogo's (my little boys), bridal trials, writing lessons to teach, teaching, website updating.. could go on but I'm pretty sure I would bore you, I've been sporting this look!

Kind of inspired by all this seasons colour palette of camel, taupe, chocolate browns etc I've been using a warm shadow such as wedge (MAC) all over the lid, building in either twinks (MAC) or mystery to wing the shape out and create definition. The reasons I've enjoyed wearing this look is it's fit in really well with pretty much everything I've worn and also it makes blue/green eyes REALLY stand out!! I teamed the look with some very warm coral cheeks and lips with NARS cream blush in cactus flower and Laura Mercier lipstick in Tangerine!

Apologies for the naff pics, they're from my blackberry and it's really not all that good at night-time!

Hope you like it.....
